OUTCOMES / TAKEAWAYS
Did you know that when teenagers reach out to others, they are much more likely to feel better about themselves. Self-esteem means feeling good about yourself, whereas having a sense of self-worth is all about valuing yourself. Having a sense of self-value means that you are worthy. This workshop focuses on building both self-esteem and self-worth, so that you can live your best life.

KNOW SOMEONE WITH MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY?

Do you know someone aged 13 – 18yrs with muscular dystrophy (MD)? Please share this so that as many young people with MD across the UK hear about this opportunity and can be nominated by a parent and/or guardian.

SIX (6) PLACES AVAILABLE
We are offering 6 places to young people with muscular dystrophy between 13 – 18yrs.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
The young people involved in this programme will come away not only feeling more positive but equipped in coping with some of those day-to-day challenges. We’ve no doubt that young people today can relate to the following:

Statement 1: No one wants to hang out with me.
Statement 2: My friends don’t get me.
Statement 3: All my other friends seem happy.
Statement 4: What’s wrong with me?
Statement 5: I’m a failure at school.

Negative thoughts like the above are becoming increasingly common in our homes and schools. Sadly, young people, irrespective whether they have a disability or not, are in today’s new world, experiencing heightened levels of anxiety. More young people are measuring themselves against unrealistic standards and by default, their mental wellbeing is suffering.

  • Explore what’s in your worry bucket (improve self-awareness)
  • Feeling liked, accepted and proud of who you are (high self-esteem)
  • Feeling bad and being hard on yourself (low self-esteem)
  • Thinking you’re not good enough (low self-esteem)
  • Acceptance of being who you are
  • Activities to build self-esteem
  • Being proud of anything which makes you different
  • Looking after your mental health
  • Time to thrive, not just survive
