June 2004 Bacchus Summer Fundraising Ball ~ In aid of The Muscular Help Foundation
The Bacchus Student Society organises educational and recreational events for students of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Management at Oxford Brookes University. This year’s Summer Ball, to be held on June 25th at Eynsham Hall, is a high profile event, and will be attended by over 200 students and lecturers.
The summer ball aims to raise funds for The Muscular Help Foundation. It’s Executive Director, Michael McGrath, graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a BSc (Hons) degree in Hotel Management Studies in 1988. Oxford Brookes University were a sponsor of the pole2pole expedition, the inaugural event of The Muscular Help Foundation.
History was made in January 2004 when Michael who is an established international motivational speaker, disABILITY Champion for Hilton UK & Ireland, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Muscular Dystrophy sufferer became the first disabled person in the world to reach both North and South Poles. He and his team reached the Geographic South Pole, the Earth’s southernmost point on 13th January 2004.
