INSPIRING HERTFORDSHIRE AWARDS

Short-listed as a Finalist at this year’s Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards 2013, the Muscle Help Foundation (MHF) entered the category ‘Social Enterprise of the Year Award’.

MHF’s CEO Michael McGrath said: “Over the past few years, I’ve become increasingly aware of the many different bodies that organise Awards events across Hertfordshire and the resulting opportunities derived by both sponsors and entrants. As MHF is a member of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry (HCCI) and having looked closely at the tremendous success of last year’s Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards 2012 event, I decided to make a submission in this years Awards to help raise our local profile. Our fingers and toes are crossed and of course we wish our fellow Finalists and indeed all successful entries the very best of luck on the big night”.

The charity’s submission was based on a number of factors including its flagship 2012 Games Inspired Muscle Dreams programme together with an ambition to inspire its own slice of sporting legacy through the newly established Muscle Warriors Powerchair Football Club (PFC) formed in partnership with the Aspire Powerchair Sports Club based in Watford, Hertfordshire. The team is made up of several young people with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) who compete under the auspices of the Wheelchair Football Association (WFA). The unique partnership is underpinned by a deep understanding of the inclusive benefits gained by actively participating in sport.

MHF’s submission included a summary of its innovative new Business Challenge Fundraiser called Challenge 200 officially launching on Tuesday 14th May where the charity is throwing down the gauntlet and issuing a challenge to Hertfordshire businesses – MHF will be tapping into the county’s entrepreneurial spirit, initially enabling 10 businesses in 2013 to leverage an investment of £200 with the aim to make as much money as possible for the charity through fundraising initiatives of their own choosing.
