The Muscle Help Foundation (MHF) is a small multi-award winning, family-centred charity, now delivering virtual experiences in the UK as a direct consequence of COVID-19. These interventions are called Muscle Dreams and they are designed for children & young people (8-28yrs) with the muscle wasting disease, Muscular Dystrophy (MD).
MHF’s growing impact is being felt by beneficiaries and their families across the UK – from improved confidence, greater self-esteem, and an increased sense of hopefulness to a powerful shared identity that connects families, giving a platform to share knowledge, memories and establish lasting friendships.
This role is a volunteer position. You will assist MHF with digital design support. You’ll use your experience and knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop to deliver assets. Some of the many and varied tasks may include creating and updating the following:

This role will suit someone with a passion for digital design. You will have related qualifications and a level of commercial experience of designing in a voluntary or paid capacity or perhaps you’re an ambitious design student looking to put learning into practice.
As an MHF volunteer, we’ll make sure you are given all the support you need. Front-end ad hoc support will be given by MHF’s multi award-winning Brand Guardian and long-standing partner to the charity. This will include an explanation of our brand guidelines and familiarisation of how we do things.
*Our CEO Michael McGrath was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy (MD) a degenerative muscle wasting disease. Nineteen years later, Michael made history by becoming the first disabled person to lead expeditions to both the North (April 2002) and the South Poles (Jan 2004). Michael inspires audiences across a variety of industry sectors. His adopted life credo is ‘Quant Je Puis’, meaning as much as I can.
Michael has been included on the Power 100 list as one of Britain’s most influential people with a disability for the past four years. Within the UK wide charity sector, he has received the Inspiring Communicator 2016 CharityComms national award in July 2019. Michael was appointed to represent the Crown as a Deputy Lieutenant (DL), a voluntary role in the county of Hertfordshire.
