Muscle Warrior #657Herts Volunteer Coordinator – Role Description

The Muscle Help Foundation (MHF) is an award-winning small specialist family charity that nationally delivers transformational, highly personalised experiences in the UK called Muscle Dreams for children and young people with muscular dystrophy and allied neuromuscular conditions. The charity has reached an exciting point in its evolution.



MHF has recently launched a new campaign called #657Herts. The objective is to attract 657 donations (each to the value of £6.57) and have 657 logos (representing 657 businesses from across the county of Hertfordshire) uploaded on its digital wall. Once a business has donated £6.57 and uploaded their logo, our web partner will then upload their logo on MHF’s digital wall with an embedded link. Thank you tweets are posted at the end of each week.


Role Purpose

Reporting to MHF’s CEO, the purpose of this voluntary role is to help MHF reach its target figure of 657 in populating the online #657Herts digital wall. #657Herts directly supports MHF’s #powerof657 campaign.


Main tasks and responsibilities

  • To contact the different newspapers across Hertfordshire and introduce #657Herts
  • To invite their support in promoting it to their readership (both offline & online)
  • To contact county-wide business networking groups and introduce #657Herts
  • To explore how these groups could support the campaign by for example having one dedicated #657Herts Business Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner in their calendar
  • To research and engage the aforementioned groups via the internet
  • Use resources such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter etc
  • Link in with businesses social networks and track all activity
  • Work alongside MHF’s PR/Media Relations & Project Management consultant
  • Work alongside MHF’s web partner
  • Provide updates to MHF’s CEO


Skills, experience and qualities needed

  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship building and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Keen attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
  • Business savvy
  • Positive, confident, friendly and enthusiastic attitude/manner
  • An interest in the charity sector
  • An interest in all things Hertfordshire (not essential)
  • Dedication, motivation and commitment to completing on the task

  1. This is a volunteer role
  2. Flexible working arrangements incl spending time with MHF’s CEO
  3. Reasonable travel expenses will be provided
  4. You will be required to work from home
  5. There may be some travel to MHF’s HQ based in Buntingford (East Herts)
