This is an extraordinary endeavour, yet a superlative challenge in aid of Muscular Dystrophy. As the second Chancellor of Oxford Brookes, I’m very proud that our university is associated with an alumni who is clearly demonstrating considerable strength of mind, determination and spirit in promoting awareness around this devastating condition.

pole2pole and The Muscular Help Foundation through Michael McGrath’s incredibly courageous bid to reach the South Pole in aid of such a worthy cause deserves worldwide support and recognition

As someone who has worked in Antarctica myself, I’m envious indeed of the pole2pole expedition teams opportunity to embark on so challenging a project in such a breathtakingly beautiful place. I wish Michael and the team much success and a safe return home.

The presenter of the UK’s Channel 4 evening news programme is widely respected for his combination of authority and independence of mind. Jon Snow was elected in 2001 as the second Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University
