MD sufferers serenaded by The Saturdays

Muscular Dystrophy sufferers Michael and Johnathon enjoyed an unforgettable Saturday in London earlier this month – meeting their favourite girl band The Saturdays!
The Muscle Help Foundation’s latest Muscle Dream saw the charity’s two twentysomething beneficiaries brush shoulders with the stars at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The boys were checked in to the Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel, where they met the charity’s hosting team before heading out with their families to the iconic concert hall.
They knew they were attending a Rays of Sunshine concert, where chart-topping girl group The Saturdays would be gracing the stage, but meeting the band in rehearsals was a complete surprise.
It was Muscle Warrior salutes all round at the photo opportunity, before Michael and Johnathon enjoyed another surprise encounter – this time with Olly Murs.
The former X Factor finalist also enjoyed flexing his muscles with a Muscle Warrior salute, a visible symbol of hope, courage and strength for Muscular Dystrophy sufferers across the UK and wearing one of the charity’s distinctive STRONGER TOGETHER wristbands.
The wristband was spotted on the singer’s wrist whilst on the Smiler roller coaster at Alton Towers on the Sunday and then again on Daybreak on the Monday!
The Rays of Sunshine gig featured other acts, including JLS and Flawless, and once proceedings were over, the boys were whisked to a secret location, London’s new skyline experience: The View from the Shard.
They scaled the tallest building in Western Europe to take in a breathtaking panoramic of the capital on what was a glorious summer’s day – pictured above, a magnificent group Muscle Warrior salute at 308 metres!
Having descended from up above, Michael, Johnathon and their families headed off to the Black and Blue Restaurant at London’s famous Borough Market – THE place in London for the perfect steak.
They were warmly welcomed by the manager who had arranged for the group to be looked after exclusively by a member of the restaurant’s staff. They tucked into the house specialty of steak and supped on their favourite tipples.
As it was a balmy summer’s evening, the boys headed down to the Thames alongside City Hall for some family night-time (gone midnight!) group photographs in front of a beautifully lit up Tower Bridge.
Michael McGrath, Chief Muscle Warrior and MHF’s CEO, said: “I know that Michael and Johnathon’s families were exhausted after what was a long day but I rather suspect that the boys with their seemingly boundless energy could have been up for a spot of clubbing! It was a real privilege to get to know them and their families.”
A big Muscle Warrior salute to our minibus driver on the day Darren from Hertfordshire-based Carts and Carriages, who battled searing heat and London traffic to keep our boys on schedule. Also, MHF salutes Carolina and Carol of the Black and Blue Restaurant in Borough Market for their wonderful welcome, superb hospitality and warm service.
