OUTCOMES / TAKEAWAYS

This workshop will focus on building confidence, resilience, a growth mindset and the ability to improve self-reflection. Should they wish, each young person will be given the opportunity to reflect and contribute. Each workshop will allow the participant to have a takeaway which will be themed on positive coping strategies, whilst allowing them to recognise their own talents in being unique.

Do you know someone aged 8 – 12yrs with muscular dystrophy (MD)? Please share this so that as many young people with MD across the UK hear about this opportunity and can be nominated by a parent and/or guardian.

We are offering 6 places to young people with muscular dystrophy between 8 – 12yrs.

Jo Morton-Brown is an Emotional Health Practitioner – a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). In 2017, Jo qualified as an MHFA Youth Instructor. She started her own business called Flourish in 2019. Jo has delivered tailored workshops and webinars for parents/carers and schools – she has also appeared as a keynote speaker at various events.

Jo is a passionate and committed advocate for the improvement of mental health and believes wholeheartedly that early intervention is key. Combining her academic knowledge with first-hand experience, Jo offers fellow professionals and parents/carers the chance to gain a better understanding of the importance of mental health wellbeing in children and young people, as well as its relevance to staff wellbeing.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

The children involved in this programme will come away with a positive feeling. They will be able to take away tools that they can use in their futures. Below is a brief summary of the areas that will be covered:

  • Space to have fun in creating your own superhero
  • Your magic word – yet!
  • Your GROWTH MINDSET – learn, grow & embrace mistakes
  • How much of a detective are you – bingo style!
  • Discover your own affirmation
  • Superheroes are RESILIENT!
  • Bouncing back from things that are challenging, hard or difficult

HELPING FAMILIES WITH TODAY’S COST OF LIVING CRISIS

As part of this programme, the charity is once again offering each beneficiary a little treat of one £20.00 Just Eat or Deliveroo Gift Card. This is our way of supporting families during this cost-of-living crisis. This will be arranged with each nominee/family at the end of the programme, in establishing preference ie. whether Just Eat or Deliveroo. Bon appétit!

HOW WILL THIS PROGRAMME BE DELIVERED

Delivered via Zoom, this session has been designed to be delivered in a supportive and engaging way for children. It will not only be fun and creative but it will also inform, educate and inspire.
