Use your own email as well as the facility on the page as you may already be familiar with your own email system, you can set up groups and you'll be able to send more emails at once than you can via your sponsorship page. Also, some of your potential supporters may feel more comfortable opening an email that comes from you personally.

Change your email auto-signature at work and/or at home after your name and title etc, add a line at the bottom including the address of your fundraising webpage. This will raise awareness of your event and ensure that every email you send out could prompt a possible.

Check you've emailed all the groups of potential supporters apart from friends and family there may be colleagues, former colleagues, business associates, college friends, fellow members of your local golf, sailing, car, church, community club etc. Encourage them to pass on your e-message to anyone else who might support your fundraising endeavour. The internet really widens the group of people you might immediately think of, for example, friends, family and colleagues living in different parts of the world that you rarely see.

Don't forget your friends and family overseas MHF may not be able to reclaim the tax on their donations but they can still support you. The world-wide-web is just that - make the most of the opportunity by effectively planning and deciding who you are going to ask for support.

Send a short email update on your training progress - let supporters know how much youve raised so far and how donations will help MHF. It's good for those who've already supported you and a nudge for those who haven't. You know what it's like people mean to donate, but sometimes they don't quite get round to doing it on the first request! We know this works well from other people's experience.

Make the most of your dedicated web address for press releases and other publicity - suggest that you for example connect with all/any publicity opportunities in your world sharing what it is you are doing, why and when MHF will provide a suitable webpage promoting your endeavour as well communicating the project via its quarterly e-news bulletins. Consider the benefits of a joint photo shoot and target media to share a local/regional customized press release with.

Put a notice up in your gym, golf club, company, college, church, children's school etc tell people to go to the short web address created for you and people can donate from there.

Ask to be on company's website see if companies that you know would be prepared to add a link to your dedicated webpage to its public website and/or intranet. Many companies like to promote the charitable and public-spirited efforts of their staff and you could get a lot of extra donations from this. Some companies may even offer a "match giving" scheme where they offer to match any amounts you raise, so this action could help you reach your target even faster.
