Chairman of the Disability Rights Commission "2003 has been designated as the European Year of Disabled People. The year provides an opportunity to promote the rights of disabled people. It is also an opportunity for disabled people to demonstrate the important contribution they make towards society. Michael McGrath's expedition to the South Pole will show that while there are many buildings whose architecture effectively excludes disabled people from using them it is also possible for disabled people to get in to some of the most inaccessible places on earth.
